After a few WoGE where my stubbornness send me way off (see WoGE #406), this time it send me (almost) directly to the spot - the 1256 volcanic eruption basalts east of the Medina's holy city!

Now, my challenge:

Yes, it's very similar to Felix's #406, I know it :) And that's the reason to call for the Schott rule in this challenge (publish time: 03:00:00, Friday 28, March 2014 WET)

So, your goal is to find out the exact location and the geology of this place and, if you are the first, you can have the honor of presenting the next WoGE. Rules, tips and previous WoGEs are collected by Felix on his blog and a KML file is available with all WoGEs.

Ole's #432 was a Chinese mine in a desert scenery where Rare Earth Elements are abundant. The specificity of mine was the main reason to be found in a relatively easy way, IMHO.

Now, away from the desert, bring the green ;)

Well, after (astro)geology and touristic famous rocks, back to the "hard" geology - petrology.

For this new challenge you should find out exact location and the geology (in this case, the petrology) of this place.

No Schott's Rule! Rules, tips and previous WoGEs are collected by Felix on his blog and a KML file is available with all WoGEs.

P.S.: I had to erase one of the image providers because it made it too easy!

All the time I've spent searching WoGEs and new spots, paid off, again - it wasn't the southern Cuba, but was near enough to be found in an hour or so! :)

Well, water it was, water it will be:

For this new challenge you should find out where is, their geology and, in this case, another important detail (but not decisive for the win) - and this one should be easy if you're a "special kind of geologist" ;)

No Schott's Rule this time! Rules, tips and previous WoGEs are collected by Felix on his blog and a KML file is available with all WoGEs.

The Matthew's #426 was a tough and exciting, but fruitless game. The fruits appeared later in Ole's #427 because of all the well detached mountains I've tried, some remained in my visual memory, such as the Ole's "neural tube mountain".

As I've had enough of this winter, lets go warmer:

So ... for you, new players to Where on (Google) Earth, simply post a comment with latitude and longitude and write something about the geology in the picture. If you're the first, you get to host the next one. Rules, tips and previous WoGEs are collected by Felix on his blog and a KML file is available with all WoGEs.
